Our process

Wax / RP

The first step in the production process is the manufacture of a
metallic tool. The tool concept is developed according to internal
requirements and manufactured by external toolmakers.

As an alternative to wax models, additively manufactured RP
models are also used.

Whether as a single piece or in large quantities, these RP components
meet all the requirements of a serial product.

Shelling

We use both water-based and alcohol-based shell systems to reproduce the various complex component structures. The layers are applied several times, always interrupted by a sufficient drying time with chemical curing of the mould shell coatings. In this way, a sufficiently thick shell is created over time, which can withstand the pressure during subsequent casting.
This technology enables Feinguss Soest to produce components without a ceramic core and to dry the shells quickly.

Casting

The Sophia® process gives design engineers a great deal of freedom when it comes to optimising topology for aerospace.

The SOPHIA® process was developed to produce complex aluminium investment castings with very sophisticated wall thicknesses and a uniform/dense microstructure.

This makes it possible to achieve better static properties and dynamic characteristic values.

After casting, a computer-controlled process lowers the mould into a cooling medium.
The parameters are matched with the component’s geometry and lead to a controlled and faster solidification.
This produces a finer and denser microstructure.

The SOPHIA® process reduces the dependence of the strength values on the wall thickness, while at the same time the mechanical properties are also significantly improved.

Finishing

We offer a wide range of value-added services, from raw parts to prefabricated system components.

In doing so, we work with long-standing partners to deliver the components to customers machined, coated or even pre-assembled.

In this way, we generate added value for the industry and assume responsibility in our supply chain.
